  1. Daniel Jaffee, Sociology faculty, presented a paper titled “Bottled Water, Tap Water Crises, and Inequality” at the annual conference of the Agriculture, Food, and Human Values Society and Association for the Study of Food and Society.
  2. Susan Kirtley, English faculty, gave two presentations as part of San Diego Comic Con: “Teaching and Learning with Comics: An Interactive Workshop” on June 19th and also participated in a panel on “Centers and Certificates: Comics Go to College” on June 21.
  3. Kristie Kolesnikov, Executive Director of Internal Affairs & Initiatives for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and Clare QuinnOffice Coordinator for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, presented at the Western Association of Student Employment Administrators conference on June 7.
  4. John Nimmo, Curriculum and Instruction faculty, co-presented “We are Parenting in Real Time - Be Patient with Us! Stories from Families Engaging in Anti-Bias Education” at the National Association for the Education of Young Children Professional Learning Institute on June 4 in Portland.
  5. John Nimmo, Curriculum and Instruction faculty, presented, “Play, Emergent Curriculum, and the Joy of Divergent Thinking: Reflecting on the Powerful Legacy of Elizabeth (Betty) Jones (1930-2022)” at the National Association for the Education of Young Children Professional Learning Institute on June 5 in Portland.
  6. Greg Townley, Psychology faculty and Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative co-founder; and PSU students Emily Leickly, Desiree' DuBoise, Kenna Dickard, and Holly Brott; presented “Engaging Diverse Stakeholders in the Development and Evaluation of an Alternative First Responder Program” June 22 at the 2023 Society for Community Research and Action biennial conference.
  7. J.J.P. Veerman, Mathematics faculty, gave the Floris Takens seminar on the topic of “Chemical Reaction Networks” June 30 at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands. 
  8. J.J.P. Veerman, Mathematics faculty, gave seminars on “Social Balance” and “Primes” June 6 and June 8 in a workshop at the University of Chieti-Pescara in Italy
  9. J.J.P. Veerman, Mathematics faculty, gave the mathematics colloquium on “Prime Numbers” July 3 at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands. 
  10. J.J.P. Veerman, Mathematics faculty, lectured on “Prime Numbers” July 13 and July 15 in a summer school for high school students at the University of Insubria in Como, Italy.
  11. Suwako Watanabe, World Languages and Literatures faculty, gave a virtual talk, “Revisiting Global Tasks in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines 2012,” on July 2 as an invited speaker at the 112th workshop sponsored by the Japanese Oral Proficiency Interview Study Group in Japan.

Marisa Zapata, Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative director and Urban Studies and Planning faculty, co-presented as part of a speaker panel in the workshop, “In Search of Harmony: Building Systems to Improve Data Quality & Utilization” July 19 at the 2023 National Alliance to End Homelessness conference.
  13. Marisa Zapata, Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative director and Urban Studies and Planning faculty, co-presented in a speaker panel called “The Crucible: The Moral and Ethical Crisis of Homelessness, Serious Mental Illness and the Criminalization of the Mentally Ill” on April 21 at the Kinsman Bioethics Conference.
