Data-Based Ecological Monitoring & Modeling

A treeclimber wearing a helmet poses next to scientific equipment attached near the top of a tall tree in Portland

We are experiencing a revolution in sensor technology driving by a growing digital infrastructure, which is concentrated in cities.

Data streams from a range of emerging technologies, including satellites, smart phones, and networks for air quality sensors and weather stations are providing more and varied detailed views of how our cities operate.

We are working to analyze and organize these data streams into ecologically relevant information, in order to build better models of the interconnections between tree, human, and city health.
