About This Event

Wednesdays 10:00 am-12:00 pm Pacific Time from October 12 through November 9.

The many crises that Oregonians face today—soaring rents, unaffordable childcare, the rollback of rights—require bold leadership. Different leadership. We believe this moment calls for intersectional feminist leadership.

What does that mean? Let’s break it down:

  • Intersectionality recognizes that how we’re treated (in our current culture) depends on the overlapping identities we have—like gender, race, class, ability, and more.
  • Feminism is “a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression” – feminist scholar, bell hooks.
  • Leadership for us means taking action to build thriving communities that meet the needs of the people and take care of the land.

Leaders who understand intersectional feminism are better equipped to end all forms of exploitation and oppression—building instead systems and norms that advance the wellbeing of all people and the land we depend on—while centering the voices and priorities of people most impacted by overlapping harms.

Key learning topics for this training:

  • Foundational concepts about gender, sexuality, intersectionality, and feminism
  • Core data on gender justice in Oregon
  • History of gender justice in our region
  • Intersectional allyship
  • Reproductive justice
  • Microaggressions: how they function and how to stop them

The training is designed for a variety of learning styles and will include a blend of presentation, participant engagement, and breakouts into affinity-group learning spaces.
