LET'S CELEBRATE
The Center for Women’s Leadership (CWL) is proud to sponsor ALIST’s Women Supporting Women (WSW) community for their inaugural PNW Women Founders Calendar Release Party on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 5-8pm!
RSVP is required
Attendees will be the first to buy and see the calendar in person since online pre-orders will ship out the very same day. Not only is this calendar a work of art, each purchase raises money to create grants and opportunities for women entrepreneurs. We’ve arranged a moderated interview of the creators themselves. You’ll hear how this fully funded project came to be a 100% women led initiative, featuring over 100 women owned businesses, all in a matter of months. We’re happy to also provide small bites and sips catered by woman-owned and PSU alumni Christine Hopkins of Aimsir Distilling. Please join us in celebrating and investing in our region's women entrepreneurs.
ABOUT THE CALENDAR:
A new fundraiser for women entrepreneurs was launched this month by two local women small business owners. Amanda Mailey is the founder of ALIST, a marketing and business consultancy specializing in serving women of color entrepreneurs. She also founded a Women Supporting Women (WSW) ecosystem in October of 2020, which has grown to over 500 women and distributed 100K across the community. To celebrate the 4 year anniversary, Amanda collaborated with Portland-based photographer Kateshia Pendergrass to produce the first PNW Women Founders Calendar to benefit the WSW Community Fund. Of those photographed, 89% identify as a woman of color, but the project included all who wanted to participate.
Kateshia is a composite artist. Thousands of photos were taken over a 3 day period in her studio, but her keen eye selected, edited and connected these women with fantastical imagery, reminiscent of artists Erwin Olaf, Vanessa Rivera, and Kristina Sherk. It’s a beautiful way to commemorate this historic time and celebrate the many women leaders we are fortunate to have in the PNW. Seeing yourself in others, or mirroring, is extremely powerful, especially to those historically underrepresented in our region. The process itself was live art and the utmost care was taken to bring out the joy and beauty in each woman while also honoring their business.
