Watch the spring band concert with special guest composer Nicole Piunno. Being the last term for Josh Friesen, the graduate teaching assistant will conduct the University Band, and his own original composition will be performed by the Wind Symphony.

Here is a sampling of the pieces to be played:

UNIVERSITY BAND

  • "Safely Rest" - Nicole Piunno
  • "Starry Oceans" - Shuying Li

WIND SYMPHONY

  • "The Spirit is Willing" - Nicole Piunno
  • "Deciduous" - Viet Cuong
  • Symphony No. 1 The Lord of the Rings "Gandalf, The Wizard" - Johan de Meij*
  • "Where Morning Dawns" - Josh Friesen, PSU graduate teaching assistant

*(The 5-part symphony was premiered in 1988 and was on the J R R Tolkien books, not the 2001 - 2003 movie trilogy.)
