Matthias Kemeny Design Lecture Series presents Kelli Anderson

Friday November 14th 2025 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Kelli Anderson is a designer, artist, and paper engineer whose work invites us to rediscover wonder in the everyday. She has authored several acclaimed books that transform the page into working devices and interactive experiences—most notably This Book is a Planetarium, an all-ages pop-up book that sold over 100,000 copies. Her latest project, Alphabet in Motion, brings the alphabet to life in surprising ways and was made possible through the support of nearly a quarter of a million dollars raised on Kickstarter.

Known for her playful approach to design, Anderson has created everything from books that double as cameras to pop-up record players, installations, and infographics. She lectures and exhibits internationally, sharing her belief that design can reveal the hidden potential of ordinary materials.

The Matthias Kemeny Design Lecture Series is coordinated and managed by students in our A+D Projects class. This series brings internationally celebrated design professionals annually to Portland to give a lecture for the benefit of the students and faculty in the Graphic Design program and the broader design community. This series is free and open to the public and highlights a wide range of design practices in an attempt to facilitate a community-wide dialogue about design and related fields. The Matthias D. Kemeny Charitable Fund of the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation has made the series possible.
