Campus Tours

Your visit to Portland State includes a guided campus tour, led by a PSU student, and an admission information session, led by an admissions counselor. We offer a variety of session types that are available at various dates and times. See below for information on each type of tour session we offer.

Tours for Undergraduate Students

Admissions Overview (30 minutes)

A representative of the Office of Admissions will discuss PSU's academic programs, Urban Honors College, Housing, the admission process, and much more!

Campus and Residence Hall Tour (1 Hour & 15 minutes)

Student Ambassadors lead these walking tours while sharing their personal experiences on campus. You will view the inside of one residence hall, the Broadway Housing Building. 

Weekend Campus Visit

Offered every second Saturday of the month during through out the calendar year (excluding September). Please check our calendar for available dates. 

Housing Tour (45 - 60 Minutes)

PSU Housing offers residence hall tours in each of our three main campus communities: Broadway, Ondine, and Blumel Halls. This tour is ideal for prospective first year, transfer or graduate students. Tours include a guided look at a showroom, resident hall features, common areas and other helpful information about the living on campus experience. Housing Tours are offered Monday - Friday, estimated tour time is 45-60 minutes.

Business Tour (30 Minutes)

These tours are designed for business students. During this tour you will visit the new Karl Miller Center (KMC), home of the School of Business.  You will see building highlights including 12 devoted student study spaces, the KMC atrium, global classrooms, stand-up work bars, the dedicated family study space, and art+business pop-up space. You will hear from an expert on the best places to study or relax in the KMC and hear about the innovative programs offered by the School of Business. The School of Business offers six master's degrees and one bachelor's degree with seven different areas of focus. The Karl Miller Center is on target to achieve LEED Platinum designation, the top category for sustainable construction. The School of Business hosts monthly campus tours on the first Tuesday of every month during the academic school year.

General Engineering Tour (1 Hour & 10 Minutes)

These tours are designed for guests who would like to learn more about the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science (MCECS). If you've wondered, "What does studying engineering look like? What do engineering students do with their free time?" then our general engineering tour will help answer those questions. Maseeh College encompasses 4 undergraduate programs in: Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical & Materials Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Computer Science. Engineering tours last about 1 hr 10 minutes and are led by our Maseeh Ambassadors, current undergraduate students in the College. You will visit key locations in the building including student group project spaces like our Viking Motorsports Club, the Portland State Aerospace Society, and the Electronics Prototyping Lab, active research labs, and student spaces. Tours are offered every other Friday including summer term.

Honors Tour (1 Hour & 40 Minutes)

Honors tours are designed for students interested in joining the Honors College, PSU’s general education track for high-achieving students.  During this tour you will visit the Rose Tucker Honors Commons, our 24/7 student lounge and computer lab, tour an Honors dorm room in Stephen Epler Hall, and visit the historic Honors House, the administrative hub of the college.  You’ll finish your tour by joining the Honors director, advisor, and members of the Honors faculty for lunch in Victor’s Dining Hall.  After lunch--depending upon availability--you may also have an opportunity to visit an Honors class.  Tours are offered the first Friday every month except January, June and September—please consult the calendar for availability.

Graduate Tour/Info Session (45 Minutes)

These tours are designed for prospective graduate students. After touring the campus with a representative from PSU Admissions, you will visit the graduate office. Information will be provided about general admission to the university, housing, transportation, and funding opportunities. Our Student Services Coordinator will then accompany you to the department you are interested in where you will receive specific information about the program.

Bike Tour (60-90 Minutes)

This tour will take you on a 3.5 mile bike ride through Portland State's main campus and down to the waterfront to see the new Collaborative Life Sciences Building. Terrain on this tour will include multiple stops at PSU locations, uphill and downhill grades, city streets and bike paths. This is no leisurely ride, but a fun and unique way to explore our campus and our city! This tour will only be offered during summer, check our calendar for availability.
