Updates to PSU Class Time in Google Calendar

Last term we launched PSU Class Time, a feature of Google Calendar at PSU that displays the courses students are enrolled in and instructors are assigned to teach.

The response from students has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’ve continued to make modifications based on instructor feedback. We’re excited to announce the following improvements will be rolled out to instructors for winter term.

Instructors view class events on the PSU Classes calendar

Events will no longer appear on instructors’ personal calendars. If you have the PSU Classes calendar toggled on, you will only see one copy of the event. If you have the PSU Classes calendar toggled off, you will not see the events.

Calendars will default to off for instructors. If you want to use the PSU Classes calendar, toggle it on in your list of calendars. See PSU Class Time in Google Calendar for details.

Other changes for the winter term include: 

  • When multiple instructors are assigned to a course, events will only appear on the Primary instructor's PSU Classes calendar. (The Primary instructor as assigned in Banner.)
  • Courses that are cross-listed in Banner will appear as merged events on the PSU Classes calendar view.
  • By-arrangement courses will no longer automatically appear on anyone’s PSU Classes calendar.

Students view class events on their main calendar

No changes have been made to PSU Class Time for students. Just like last term, students' class times will automatically appear on their main PSU Google Calendar, found at cal.pdx.edu, for every course they are actively enrolled in for the current term.
