Classroom Technology Updates for Spring Term 2025

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is committed to providing you with reliable and up-to-date information on classroom technology updates. To ensure a smooth teaching experience, we want to inform you of several important updates for the Spring term and the upcoming months.

If you would like to receive emailed updates about classroom technology, including notifications of new blog posts related to classroom technology, please join the PSU Classroom Technology Google Group by selecting the “Join group” button at the top of the page. We will use this group to provide information about changes to classroom technology, and also to collect feedback about what you’d like to see change (or not change!) in the future. If you have any feedback that you’d like to share now, please fill out this Classroom Technology Feedback form.

Microphone Accommodations:

Please note that microphone checkout services are no longer available. For any student requiring accommodations, please direct them to contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC). Faculty members who require microphone accommodations should contact Human Resources (HR). The DRC and HR will work with individuals to provide appropriate solutions to meet their specific needs. We understand the importance of clear audio in physical and remote instruction, and we are dedicated to supporting accessible learning environments.

Windows 11 Upgrade:

We have begun the process of upgrading all podium PCs to Windows 11. This is a mandatory update from Microsoft, designed to enhance security and maintain system compatibility. This upgrade will continue throughout the Spring and Summer terms, with all podium PCs expected to be running Windows 11 by the start of the Fall term.
For more information, please visit Microsoft’s Windows 11 features page.

"Log Off" Shortcut on Windows 11:

To streamline your classroom experience, a convenient "Log Off" shortcut has been added to the desktop of podium, lab, and classroom PCs running Windows 11. This shortcut simplifies the process of logging off the computer at the end of your class session, ensuring that the system is ready for the next instructor.

We understand that technology changes can sometimes require adjustments. We are committed to providing you with the necessary support during this transition. Please do not hesitate to contact the OIT Helpdesk at  503-725-HELP or submitting this support form if you have any questions or require assistance.

Thank you for your cooperation and dedication to creating an engaging learning environment.

Sincerely,
The Office of Information Technology
