Dear Campus Community, 

There have been reports of several violent attacks on LGTBQIA2S people in SE Portland over the weekend, and an increase in missing trans youth of color which also includes a recent loss in our youth community. Portland State University affirms and celebrates our communities and acknowledges the painful impact of these recent attacks. QRC leadership want to make sure you are connected with support and community during this troubling time. 

The QRC can offer community space and connection with other students. The QRC is open 9 am-7 pm Monday-Friday this week and staff will be available to talk with students about recent events.Two community-specific meetings will happen this week. T Time, for trans and nonbinary students on Thursday from 6:30-8:00 pm and the Queer and Trans Students of Color Affinity Group on Friday from 5 pm-6:30 pm. 

In the community, the Q Center will hold a community town hall on Sunday February 24th, from 6 pm-8 pm. 

Additional options for support:

The Student Health and Counseling Center has a team of mental health professionals available to provide confidential services to any student seeking support. Students can access services by calling 503-725-2800 or by visiting SHAC during regular business hours.

The PSU C.A.R.E.Team/Dean of Student Life Office helps coordinate support services for students in distress and those needing assistance in navigating university resources. If you know someone who is in distress or needing this kind of support, please contact the office at 503-725-4422.

Our campus resource centers are available for students and staff to gather to process their thoughts and feelings with others in our campus community.
