This information is for students in professional doctoral programs only. Students in research doctoral programs should reference the continuous enrollment webpage for information.
Continuous Enrollment (CE) is a reduced tuition rate of $10 per credit (plus mandatory fees) for eligible professional doctoral students.
Eligibility for Continuous Enrollment
- Completion of comprehensive examination
- Has already enrolled for the minimum number of 606 Project credits needed to complete degree requirements (18 credits for an EdD)
- Both eligibility requirements (completion of comprehensive examination and enrollment in minimum number of project credits) must be completed before a student is eligible for their first term of CE registration
The reduced tuition rate is for 606 CE credits only. If students register for other courses in the same term, they will be assessed regular tuition for those non-606 CE credits.
Mechanism for Continuous Enrollment Registration
Eligible professional doctoral students receive the reduced tuition rate by registering for course 606C Project (C for Continuous Enrollment). When a professional doctoral student becomes eligible for CE, a code will be added to the student information system indicating their eligibility for CE. With this code, 606C credits will be the only 606 credits available for registration.
To register, eligible professional doctoral students will log in to the eBy-Arrangement (eBA) Dashboard with their Odin username and password.
- When selecting "Course Type" in the eBA, select the 406, 506, 606 (606C) option from the drop-down menu
- When selecting "Course Number" in the eBA, the only option you should see is 606C
All other fields should be completed as normal. You may want to reference the eBA Instructions for further details on completing an eBA form.
Professional doctoral students who believe they are eligible for CE but are not seeing the option to select the 606C course number should email Roxanne Treece at treece@pdx.edu.
It is important to remember that CE is only a reduced tuition rate. It does not change anything else such as the definition of a full-time or part-time student, eligibility to serve as a GA, immigration requirements for international students, or any other type of eligibility that is based on registration: financial aid, health insurance, housing, etc.
Continuous Enrollment FAQs
- How will I know when I'm eligible for CE?
- The professional doctoral program will monitor student registration and notify the Graduate School when students become eligible. However, it is also the responsibility of the student to keep track of their 606 registration and follow up with the Graduate School if they believe they are eligible but have not received confirmation from the Graduate School.
- I'm classified as a non-resident student in Oregon—am I eligible for CE?
- Yes. Both resident and non-resident students are eligible for CE when they have met the eligibility requirements as stated above.
- I'm an international student—am I eligible for CE?
- Yes. International students are eligible for CE both before and after they are approved for Reduced Courseload (RCL). For information about when international students are eligible for RCL, please contact International Student Services at intl-services@pdx.edu.
- Can I receive financial aid if I'm approved for CE?
- Yes. Provided you otherwise meet eligibility requirements, you can receive part-time aid with 5-8 credits of CE registration and full-time aid with 9 or more credits of CE registration.
- If I complete the comprehensive examination early in a term, can I get CE for that term?
- No. The comprehensive examination completion date must be before the first day of the term you are eligible for CE.
- In the term when I register for my 18th project credit, can I get CE for that term?
- No. You must have completed the term in which you registered for your 18th project credit in order to be eligible for CE.
