Campus Safety

PSU Campus Safety

The PSU Board of Trustees approved a resolution to create a sworn and armed police force at the December 11, 2014 meeting.  An Implementation Advisory Committee will be formed and tasked with creating an Implementation Plan that the board will review and vote on at the June 11, 2015 meeting.

The decision by the board to authorize armed police officers was the culmination of an 18-month process that started in Spring 2013 when President Wim Wiewel established the President’s Task Force on Campus Safety. The task force, made up of a broad representation of the PSU community, spent six months studying safety on campus, then recommended having access to armed officers.
