At the Center for Entrepreneurship, we are committed to fostering an inclusive community of staff, mentors, and partners that reflect the diverse backgrounds of the students and communities we serve. This commitment drives our mission to create opportunities for everyone to thrive as entrepreneurs and innovators.
With that, we are thrilled to announce the promotion of Stacey Hoshimiya to the role of Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship!
Stacey has been a cornerstone of the Center for two years, serving as Assistant Director and actively shaping our programs, events, and competitions. From Kickstart Weekend to the Cleantech Challenge, to Invent Oregon, Stacey has been instrumental in empowering students to see themselves as entrepreneurs and innovators. Her dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact on our community.
As a serial entrepreneur, Stacey brings over 20 years of hands-on experience to her new role. Her entrepreneurial journey began in the early 2000s as a freelance artist, where she honed her skills in craftsmanship, brand identity, sustainable business practices, and consulting for small businesses. Her passion for empowering others led her to serve in the Peace Corps Morocco Small Business Development Program, where she shared her business acumen and collaborated with local artisans and counterparts to create viable business opportunities and growth.
Stacey’s adventures across the globe—teaching yoga in India and Italy, leading yoga retreats and cultural tours in Morocco, and consulting on independent business and non profit initiatives abroad—have enriched her perspective on innovation and cultural appreciation.
Currently, Stacey is the founder of “this Modern Nomad,” a brand that celebrates travel, yoga, and art, with its latest product line featuring handmade bags crafted by Moroccan artisans using authentic techniques, genuine leather, and natural dyes. Her dedication to smart design, artisan craftsmanship, sustainable practices, and fostering economic growth through job creation and community empowerment aligns perfectly with the entrepreneurial spirit we champion at the Center for Entrepreneurship.
As Director, Stacey will continue to build on the Center’s mission to inspire and support the next generation of changemakers. Her vision and expertise will undoubtedly lead the Center to new heights.
