Invent for the Planet

Invent for the Planet is a 48-hour Intensive Design Experience (IDE) that engages students at different universities around the world on a single weekend to solve high impact, global problems.

Stay tuned for 2021 dates

Invent for the Planet will be held/hosted in over 26 Universities across the globe simultaneously.

Each group will start on Friday, February 14th. New groups will join the race to innovation as time travels across the world. Student teams will work on provided design challenges in local teams and will be encouraged to connect with teams across the globe as they come online. PSU Invent will be hosted in PSU Business Accelerator and use the surrounding Spaces and resources available at the accelerator.

The event is open to any and all students at PSU with a passion to work towards solving global problems related to the following themes: waste management, food security, environment, education, digital technology, agriculture, and medicine/medical systems & delivery.

We want to challenge all levels of students to explore innovation, creativity, and teamwork. This is a very supportive and safe environment to challenge yourself to push boundaries. We encourage risk, expect failures, and cheer with you for your successes. Freshmen-Ph.D, all majors and skillsets are welcome.

Throughout the weekend you will connect with teams from around the world who are working on the same challenge, giving you an international experience without ever leaving Portland.

You’ll get experience in engineering innovation and design, and develop your teamwork, communication, and presentation skills. You’ll be guided throughout by a team of expert mentors.
