We need to do the work ourselves to work in partnership with people of color and to be an ally in the fight against oppression. It takes effort, it takes time and it takes humility.

The 2021 Winter Symposium

The Time 2 Act Winter Symposium is the follow-up to the Virtual Equity Summit: Time to Act held by Global Diversity & Inclusion during the fall 2020 term. Over 600 attendees and viewers from the PSU community came together to discuss the history and future of DEI work at Portland State, including the initiatives of the five task forces discussed at the fall summit.

PSU is pleased to offer a livestream of the Symposium for those who were unable to attend or participate for the entire duration of the event. Please feel free to share the video with your network of PSU contacts!

Equity Task Force Recommendations

More than 500 members of the Portland State University community created a vision for a just and equitable campus at the Time to Act Fall 2020 Equity Summit. Five cross-campus task forces then recommended continuing actions to make that vision a reality.

Prioritized recommendations will qualify for funding through the Racial Equity Fund — $1.5 million over three years — for investments to advance student retention and success, nurture an empowering climate for BIPOC employees, and support the development and deployment of an anti-racist lens.

We encourage you to review each task force's recommendations and share your thoughts via their respective feedback forms. Thank you for helping PSU create meaningful change for racial justice.
