Art & Design Building

Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design

Project Title:
Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design

The Art & Design project also known as Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design is set to redefine the campus landscape and elevate PSU's commitment to sustainability, wellness, and excellence in higher education. One of the project's standout features is its use of mass timber construction as opposed to the conventional use of concrete. This project will be PSU's first building constructed with this sustainable and resilient construction method, championing both environmental responsibility and occupant wellness. The project aspires to achieve LEED Gold certification, reflecting a commitment to green building practices and eco-conscious design. A notable feature of the Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design is its integration with the City of Portland Green Loop, connecting seamlessly to the north side of the building. This integration not only enhances the accessibility of the future building but also revitalizes the adjacent park blocks, contributing to the city's urban development.

Current Status:
The final stages of construction are underway now through May 2026 including interior finishes, exterior metal panel system, and exterior sitework.
