Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice in Teaching & Learning at PSU

Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at PSU

Under the leadership of President Stephen Percy, Portland State University has renewed its commitment to fighting racism and advancing social justice. In the context of this university-wide focus, the Office of Academic Innovation staff and leadership have indicated a commitment to advancing equity, inclusion, and racial justice within the unit and throughout its work to support teaching and learning across PSU. Further, OAI is committed to antiracist, anti-oppressive, and inclusive learning and teaching at PSU.

This work begins with advancing knowledge of innovative and inclusive pedagogies through collaboration and co-creation with students and faculty to promote equity and advance social justice across campus.

Justice, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (JDEI) Pedagogy Toolkit

OAI aspires to create opportunities for collaboration with PSU faculty and students to co-construct curricular and pedagogical resources that promote inclusion in learning and teaching, specifically through the co-creation of a Justice, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Pedagogy Toolkit.

The JDEI Pedagogy Toolkit will draw on the collective differences, lived experiences, identities, and positions within higher education to make decisions, create resources, and design opportunities for learning. Our goal in forming a co-creative collective in partnership with students and faculty is to ensure that our work most accurately reflects a diverse array of perspectives. We aim to inspire others to continue and extend this work as well as take up this work for the first time, and revise and apply it within their own contexts and disciplines. In partnership, we commit to being active champions of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
