Faculty Professional Development

Office of Academic Innovation (OAI)

OAI is the University's center for faculty support, offering full-service teaching resources and a team that will work with you one-on-one to create an impactful class for your students, whether face-to-face or online.

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity

PSU has institutional membership in NCFDD, so any PSU faculty member, postdoctoral fellow, graduate student, or professional student can access NCFDD resources anytime. Programs and services help faculty to increase writing productivity, establish and maintain work-life balance, create broad networks of collegial support on their campus, and develop a committed stance towards their institutional home.

Early Career Faculty Cohort Information

OAA offers a custom series for professional development opportunities to support early career faculty growth and success in teaching, research, and service. These workshops are designed to supplement, complement, and enhance the mentoring and training already provided by your college and/or department. Importantly, each workshop will have time for you to connect with other early-career faculty on campus as well as meet and engage with campus leadership.

Professional Development Funding Opportunities

PSU provides faculty, as required by the AAUP CBA, Individual Professional Development Accounts (IPDAs),  a Faculty Development Grant opportunity, and a Conference Fund.

Research Related Professional Development

Research & Graduate Studies offers a variety of professional development opportunities. These programs and videos are designed to help faculty and postdocs develop successful research portfolios. The workshops and other content available on this page are designed to help faculty members and postdocs navigate Portland State's research support systems (Sponsored Projects Administration, Research Integrity & Compliance, and Innovation & Intellectual Property) and acquire or hone skills useful in research activities.
