Knowing that one method will never fit all, we went about our evaluation in a few different ways. We started with a comprehensive survey for alums from 2003-2021 that sought to understand perspectives on NLO from an equity standpoint. As a team dedicated to racial and intersectional gender justice, we needed to look at participants’ experience, effects, and barriers broken down by alums’ demographics and identities, such as race, gender, and education level. Rather than isolating just one identity, we created interactive charts that would assess participant experience by intersectional identity, such as race and gender. We created interactive charts to display this comprehensive demographic data in a way that is engaging and meaningful, and we incorporated NLO 2022 data after it occurred.

The size of the bubble corresponds with how often a theme appeared so that a larger bubble represents a more frequent theme.
