In a rapidly changing political and business landscape, this in-person event explores innovative strategies and perspectives to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the changes in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) throughout the nation and in the business. In the wake of the BLM Spring of 2020 many entities affirmed their commitment to diversity and inclusion through statements and financial support. However, 4 years later it seems that DEI is under attack in some parts of the country as well as some corporate spaces.

It appears that DEI is dying. In this interview-style discussion, participants gain practical insights and discover tangible approaches for adapting to the changing environment of DEI.

This event is designed for students, faculty, staff as well as community leaders in DEI, human resources, organizational culture professionals, and advocates committed to shaping inclusive spaces in the Portland Metro region and beyond in the face of significant challenges and changes.

Hear from the following guest speakers on their perspective and experience on the subject matter:

  1. Nikotris Lewis - Sr. Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (New Seasons)
  2. James Farmer - Global HR Executive and Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (General Motors)
  3. Mayra Arreola - Chief Shared Prosperity Officer (Port of Portland)
