Primatology Field Methods in Costa Rica
What can wild primates teach us about animal behavior?

Join us for a field-based program in the heart of Costa Rica’s rainforest, exploring animal behavior in one of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems. Based at La Suerte Biological Field Station, you’ll study Central American spider monkeys, white-faced capuchins, and mantled howler monkeys in their natural habitat.

Through hands-on fieldwork, behavioral observations, and lectures, you’ll learn to design a research project, collect and analyze data, and present your findings. Explore connections among primate behavior, ecology, conservation, ecotourism, and sustainable development while encountering tropical wildlife and experiencing daily life at a rainforest field station.

Open to students from all majors with a strong interest in wildlife and conservation, this program is especially suited for students interested in biology, anthropology, psychology, zoology, ecology, and environmental science.
