Group Tours

PSU Group Visit Overview

Group visits are designed exclusively for high school (9th-12th grade) students, teams, or community groups and are meant for groups with 10 or more participants. Reservations are required.

We are unable to host guided K-8 visits. We have compiled resources for folks interested in bringing elementary-aged students to PSU.

Our office provides three different options for group visits: 

  1. General Campus Visits
  2. Self-Guided Tours
  3. Sustainability Tours (by special request only)

Guided Group Tours

General Campus Tour

  • University Welcome Center Check-In (15 minutes): Arrive at our office, check in at the Welcome Center and receive printed materials about PSU and admissions.
  • Campus Tour (1 hour): Current PSU students lead these walking tours while sharing their personal experiences.
  • Admissions Information Overview (30 minutes): A representative of the Office of Admissions will speak about academics, honors program, housing, the admissions process and answer questions.

Guided group visit sessions (late September - early June) are only offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9:30am and 1:30pm. Summer visits (late June - August) are hosted at 11am only. We host no more than two groups of 40 students maximum each week (during Fall and Spring term we host three groups a week). Due to high demand and to make our dates available to as many groups as possible, we are only able to host one group from the same school/organization per term.

Group Visits can only be scheduled for the current term. Please see the schedule below for more information about dates:

  • Fall 2017 tours begin October 3rd and end November 30th (no tours on 10/12, 11/16, 11/23)
  • Winter 2018 tours begin January 16th and end March 15th 
  • Spring 2018 tours begin April 10th and end June 7th (no tours on 5/16 and 5/17)
  • Summer 2018 tours will begin June 26th and end August 30th

To submit a request: 

  • View the Group Visits Calendar for availability (dates that are blank or contain a school's name are not available).
  • Download our Visit Request Packet for Winter Term (January - March) visits and fill it out as accurately as possible. Please send the completed form to campusvisits@pdx.edu for review (your completed form is considered an inquiry and is NOT a guarantee or confirmation of your visit).
  • PSU Campus Visits will respond via phone or email within three business days regarding your inquiry status.

Dates are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Please submit your group Visit Request Packet at least three weeks in advance of your preferred visit date and time. If there is no availability on the date you would like to attend or if the date has been reserved, please email campusvisits@pdx.edu for a self-guided tour packet.

Self-Guided Tours

Groups interested in exploring PSU on their own or that are unable to secure a date but still intend on visiting campus are encouraged to participate in a self-guided tour. Groups can participate on any date at any time.

Certain buildings have limited access (especially on the weekends) and cannot be viewed as part of a self-guided visit.

Sustainability Tours

Our Sustainability Campus Tour is 60-90 minutes in length and groups can choose to focus their tour on gardens, infrastructure, or a mix of both. For a group of 20, please submit your group visit request at least two weeks in advance of your preferred date and time. If your group exceeds 20 people, we require a minimum advance notice of one month. Tour dates and times are based on the availability of our Sustainability Ambassadors. 

To submit a request, please fill out our Sustainability Request Form. This form is only used as an inquiry and is not a guarantee or confirmation of your visit. Late/Cancellation Policy

Notify the Campus Visits office if you need to cancel, modify agenda/student count, or will be late for your campus visit at least one week in advance by calling 503-725-5555 or emailing campusvisits@pdx.edu.

Late arrivals may receive an abbreviated schedule. If a group is a no-show or cancels within one week or less before the scheduled visit we cannot guarantee that we will be able to fulfill subsequent requests from the group.

Confirmation

We make every effort to respond to visit requests within 1-2 business days. If you do not receive a campus visit confirmation via e-mail within that time, we recommend you first check your "junk mail" or "spam mail" folder for any correspondence from our office. If the email is not found, then we recommend you contact our office so we can resend a new confirmation e-mail.
