Transfer & Returning Student Resource Center Values

graphic representing TRSRC values and services. Support community equity and access.

This is a living statement and is iterative. We strive to learn and grow in our work and to always be informed by the student voice.

Transfer and returning students are the heart of what makes Portland State University successful. The majority of PSU students are transfers, and PSU welcomes more transfer students than any college in Oregon- You Belong at PSU!

We know that transferring or returning to a university can sometimes feel confusing and that you are a unique individual with a dynamic and wonderfully multifaceted life. At the TRSRC, our team has a commitment to supporting you on your educational journey.

Even before you decide to come to PSU - we are here to help. We are a welcoming bridge to help you discover the resources and programming that is available to you. Our Transfer & Returning Student Advisors provide unique advising- we help you determine what classes to take before you transfer or support you as you return to higher education after a significant break to complete an undergraduate degree. We can help you identify and connect with appropriate resources as well as  help you explore something new and fun to do at PSU.  At the TRSRC, we work in collaboration with transfer admissions, financial services, student services, resource centers, and the University Career Center to support your success. Our skill building, social connection, and mentorship programming is available to you before and after you transfer to PSU.

Our center, located on the third floor of Fariborz Maseeh Hall, has an open door - we are a welcoming place for students to come to ask questions, connect to resources, get advising, learn about what is going on on campus, connect with other students, and find out how to connect to groups and activities that interest you. The student voice drives the direction of our center and we welcome your questions and suggestions so that we can best provide a space and services to benefit your education at PSU.

Our team is excited to connect with you remotely! We have a robust offering of online support, programs, and community events- programming and workshops geared towards academic support, skill-building, and building community.

The Transfer and Returning Student Resource Center is committed to ongoing work towards racial justice and being anti-racist.  We are engaged in individual, team, and division-wide learning and training, and are shaping our programming and practices to reflect what we learn from BIPOC leaders.  We recognize the ways in which white supremacy shapes campus cultures, and we are actively taking steps to dismantle and re envision how PSU and the TRSRC can be for all students, faculty, and staff.  Equity and inclusion are core values of the TRSRC.  We welcome feedback and commit to continual and iterative growth.

The PSU Transfer and Returning Student Resource Center is the place to connect you to PSU and support your goals - we are here to help you thrive.
