ARTICULATION AGREEMENT QUICK CHECKLIST

Please use the checklist below as a guide to completing the steps for creating an articulation agreement.

Step One: Initiation

  • PSU department contacts Partnering Institution or vice versa.
  • Department chair notifies the dean of intention to create an Articulation Agreement.

Step Two: Notice of Intent to Develop an Articulation Agreement

  • A representative from the dean’s office submits the "Notice of Intent to Develop an Articulation Agreement" which is the first tab of the OnBase form.
  • The TRSRC communicates the request to the Registrar’s Office (RO) and the Curriculum Coordinator in the Office of Academic Affairs via email.

Step Three: Development of Agreement

  • A representative from the Dean’s office or department office drafts agreements in the OnBase system with the community college, utilizing the expertise of the academic advisors  within the unit.
  • The agreement, including all course articulation lists that are part of the agreement, will be reviewed by the RO to ensure course articulations are accurate within DARS and to ensure transfer articulation applicability within the unit.
  • RO will communicate any errors or questions to the department for resolution, and the department will update the OnBase forms as necessary.
  • Department submits the final draft of the agreement in OnBase for final review by OAA, RO, and the TRSRC.

Step Four: Approval Process Workflow

  • The articulation agreement forms are routed electronically with a notice via email for signatures.

Step Five: Communicate/Disseminate the Agreement

  • Signed copies of the agreement are sent as a PDF to the Contracting and Procurement Services  Office and the Partnering Institution. The original agreement is kept in OnBase.
  • The TRSRC posts agreement to appropriate PSU websites and notifies appropriate units that the articulation agreement is complete.

Step Six: Promotion/Marketing

  • Department posts links to transfer guides and degree maps as appropriate to departmental websites.Department should consider other venues to promote agreements.

AGREEMENTS MANAGED BY ACADEMIC UNITS

For Agreements managed by administrative units, visit Articulation Agreements Explained.

Agreement: Description: How it is developed/implemented:
AAS
Program-to-Program
Articulation
Agreement
Specifies how courses in an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) major at a Community College (CC) will transfer to a specific major at PSU. Generally accompanied by a Transfer Guide and a Degree Map. Example: AAS in Fitness Trainer at Clark College to Physical Activity/Exercise in Community Health at PSU.Generally initiated by departments, this is a formal agreement that must be vetted and signed by the Provost’s office as well as by school/college and department. These agreements can allow courses that might not otherwise transfer to PSU (because they are not part of the CC college preparatory transfer curriculum) to be accepted to meet major requirements for a specific major only.
Transfer Advising GuideTransfer advising guides are designed to support and prepare students to transfer in to a specific major at PSU. These guides should be developed for the AAS program-to-program agreements as described above. They should also be developed to articulate transfer pathways for students completing a college preparatory curriculum at a CC into specific majors at PSU.Created through partnership of PSU and a CC or other Partnering Institution.
