Career goals: what do you plan to do with your fluency in Russian?
I aspire to work in healthcare and plan to use my fluency to communicate and work with Russian-speaking patients.

What attracted you to the PSU Russian Flagship program?
I was attracted to the program because I am interested in improving my knowledge of the Russian language from conversational to professional and this program offers a variety of classes and opportunities to do so.

What’s the best aspect of being in the PSU Russian Flagship program?
The best aspect of the program is being able to connect with other students, professors, and tutors outside of the classroom and learning and experiencing Russian culture in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Why is fluency in Russian important to you?
Fluency in Russian is important to me because although I was born in the US, I grew up speaking Russian at home and didn’t start learning English until I started kindergarten. At first, Russian was my first language, but as I grew up in the US education system, my knowledge of English quickly surpassed my knowledge of Russian. I continued to speak, read, and write in Russian at home, but I know that I lack certain aspects of the language. I want to improve my fluency in Russian to be able to speak in not only casual and informal situations, but also in professional and formal settings.
