Russian Flagship Program

Honors and awards: NSLI-Y Academic Year Russian 2015

Career goals: what do you plan to do with your fluency in Russian?
I would like to put my fluency towards interpretation or translation.

What attracted you to the PSU Russian Flagship program?
I was attracted to the program because of the dedication of the professors and staff, and the camaraderie and appreciation of the language amongst the students.

What’s the best aspect of being in the PSU Russian Flagship program?
The approach to language study; two days in class are never the same and professors go out of their way to cater lessons to students and their interests. Russian culture is incredibly diverse and professors always make a concerted effort to showcase the full spectrum and beauty of the Russian language and culture.

Why is fluency in Russian important to you?
Russian is a beautiful language made more beautiful by the people who speak it, and I find Russian people and culture to be very misbranded and misrepresented in wider media, especially in the U.S.; a country of such history, resilience, and depth of culture should be celebrated and studied.
