Career goals:  What do you plan to do with your fluency in Russian?

Becoming fluent in Russian will benefit me in my career. While growing up and seeing the struggles of elderly native Russian speakers in the medical field, I plan to help by helping to bridge the language gap in medical interpretation. A goal that I have for the future is opening my own physical therapy clinic. This clinic will differ from the rest by including a variety of medical bilingual staff, while being affordable. Fluency in Russian opens a gateway to a beautiful culture and connects you to many countries in Eastern Europe.

What attracted you to the PSU Russian Flagship?

What attracted me to the PSU Russian Flagship program was the fast-paced learning style. Each lesson has the opportunity to be applied to everyday life, and it creates a sense of connection between class and life outside of the classroom. This program is supported by instructors that are passionate about teaching others while being understanding when it comes to difficulties.

What’s the best aspect of being in the PSU Russian Flagship?

The best aspect of being in the PSU Russian Flagship program is the sense of community. One thing that I have learned while enrolling in my first year of college is the gratitude for the ones around you. Language is a powerful asset, and the bonds that grow within the community of learners change the experience of the learning process.

Why is fluency in Russian important to you?

While growing up in the Slavic community, I only developed a novice level of understanding in the language. I felt as if there was a rift between me and my own culture. So by enrolling in this program, I hope to see a deeper side, and that is why fluency in Russian is important to me.
