Vernier Lab

A standalone, touch screen interface used to collect sensor data with built-in graphing and analysis capability. This handheld device uses a number of sensors (separate external attachments described below) to take and record measurement data on a variety of environmental factors such as wind speed, temperature, and lighting. With wi-fi connection capability, recorded data can be emailed directly for manipulation and further graphical representation on personal computers.

Vernier Lab

Kestrel Drop D3 Environmental Data Logger 

A small and rugged (water and shock resistant) environmental data logger used to record temperature, humidity, heat index, dew point temperature, station pressure, density altitude, and pressure trend in a range of applications. Through wireless sync with the LiNK app on a smartphone or tablet, reading intervals can be customized (as frequently as every 2 seconds) and recordings can be viewed real-time and analyzed, or exported for further manipulation and analysis.

Onset Hoboware and Hobo Data Loggers 

A software and number of different HOBO data loggers and monitoring devices used to measure, record, and manage data pertinent to the performance of green buildings, human comfort, and renewable energy systems. Through the simple set-up of measuring and logging parameters with the universal software, data loggers are capable of being left in desired measurement spaces for months, with the simple retrieval of logged data upon reconnection with the software.

Apple iPods

While everyone knows the iPod, and its typical uses for music and personal functions, BUILT uniquely makes use of the iPod for building science research and studies. Through a variety of installed iOS applications and external plugins (listed below), BUILT's iPods can be used for thermal imaging and analysis, sketching, taking pictures/recording videos of unique building performance phenomena, glare analysis of pictures, sound and light level measurements, etc.

FLIR E60 Infrared Camera

A thermal imaging camera for field measurements pertaining to the evaluation and assessment of thermal performance of building envelope systems, thermal bridging, moisture problems, etc. The E60 features a(n) IR pixel resolution of 320x240, thermal sensitivity range <0.09°F,  temperature range of -4° to 1,202°F, and a 60Hz frame rate. FLIR's "Multi Spectral Dynamic Imaging" (MSX) technology enhances thermal images with virtually etched details.

MOCON VOC-TRAQ USB Toxic Gas Detector + Logger

A portable photoionization detector (PID) for reliable and accurate total volatile organic compound (TVOC) measurements and logging related to indoor air quality experiments and research. The detector's internal memory (in combined use with a rechargeable power supply) can remotely store up to 36,000 readings. Alternately, USB compatibility allows for operation while connected to a computer, increasing the amount of readings which can be measured and logged.

Extech HD450: Datalogging Heavy Duty Light Meter

A "heavy duty" light meter that measures from 0 to 400,000Lux (0 to 40,000Fc) with a 0.1Lux/.001Fc resolution and 5% accuracy. Ideal for indoor lighting level studies, the HD450's  datalogger function can automatically store up to 16,000 readings and manually store/recall up to 99 readings. Additional features include "peak" and "relative" modes, minimum/maximum readings, data hold, and a backlit LCD display with 40-segment bar graph.

A non-electric solar pathfinder that is simple and straightforward, requiring no special skills or technical know-how. EL-USB-2 Temperature and Humidity Logger 

A data logger that measures and stores up to 16,382 relative humidity and temperature readings over 0 to 100%RH and -31 to 176°F ranges. The logging rate and start time are customizable and the stored data can be downloaded by plugging the logger into a USB port and running the purpose designed software. Relative humidity, temperature and dew point data can then be graphed, printed and exported to other applications for manipulation and graphic representation.

Reed SD-4023 Sound Meter

This SD series sound level meter has triple range measurement and features user selectable sampling rates from 1 to 3600 seconds. Using an SD card (up to 16Gb) a user can select a desired sampling rate and quickly generate an Excel file with raw data, all without the use of software.
