Malia loves her home state of Colorado, but she wanted to break out of her comfort zone by going to graduate school in Oregon.
She found exactly what she was looking for at Portland State University: a competitive master’s program in urban planning in the heart of one of the most vibrant cities on the West Coast.
The best part? She could attend for the much lower price of an Oregon resident.
Malia is one of a growing number of graduate students from 16 western states who pay in-state tuition through the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). They are each saving more than $5,600 a year in tuition in 17 competitive programs.
"I knew that if I wanted to go out of state, I needed something like this,” she said. “PSU makes it easy and affordable.”
