Mapping the Local Landscape: Incorporating Geospatial Technologies in the Classroom 2024

for High School and Community College Level Teachers

August 5 - 9, 2024 at PCC Sylvania

This exciting summer institute focuses on learning to apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Geospatial Technologies in the classroom. It is designed for High School or Community College educators interested in learning more about mapping, GIS, and Geospatial Technologies and how they can be leveraged in the classroom across multiple disciplines

Topics:

  • Storytelling with maps
  • Building interactive web maps
  • Intro to drone mapping
  • Mapping cultural & natural landscapes

Benefits:

  • Participants will receive a $400 stipend

Eligibility to Apply:

High School and Community College level teachers and pre-service teachers are eligible to apply.

A basic level of computer literacy is expected. Must have access to a Gmail account and ability to use Google drive.
