Kate Bingaman-Burt is an illustrator, educator and community organizer based in Portland, Oregon. She is a professor and chair of graphic design at Portland State, associate director of the Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design and founder of Outlet, a risograph print studio and zine library. Her professional practice spans illustration, daily drawing projects and client collaborations, while her teaching and public speaking focus on design education, creativity, and preparing students for evolving careers in the field. She is recognized for her work on community print culture, zine publishing and the intersections of design and everyday consumption. Through her long-running Daily Purchase Drawings and related projects, she explores visual culture, storytelling and consumer memory. She also contributes to ongoing conversations about the role of collaboration, community building and emerging technologies — including AI — in shaping the future of design.
