Alan DeLaTorre considers himself to be an urban gerontologist, but identifies most closely with gerontology as a discipline. 

DeLaTorre is particularly interested in speaking on aging in place, age-friendly communities, and housing policy related to older adults and people with disabilities

He aims to utilize research to inform policy and practice pertaining to communities that work for people of all ages and abilities.
