The Future and Thriving of BIPOC Communities Macro Convening

As an anchor institution, PSU is proactively leaning into its future as a majority-BIPOC student institution and is committed to coming alongside BIPOC communities and critical partners, actors, and agents to act in the present to ensure our thriving future. Between June and October 2022, PSU has hosted a series of affinity conversations with BIPOC communities.  We were enlightened and challenged, and we recognized that the opportunities and challenges require collective, rather than singular, action.
 
This meeting promises to be a time to advance the work that has emerged from previous affinity summits and convenings. It will be a day of co-creation and mobilizing for action to ensure our thriving shared future.

Latine Future Initiative

A futures-oriented, trans-sector gathering where Latiné leaders developed a vision for collective wealth-building and wellbeing, and discussed pathways to higher education, climate change, and the changing workforce.

Black Thriving and Joy

This co-creation event was an asset-based intergenerational, inter-ideological, and intercultural opportunity for listening, shared learning, and recognition of points of synergy and opportunity across the rich complexity of the black community in the Portland area.

PIAA Community Convening

PSU gathered Pacific Islander, Asian, and Asian American community leaders and members to cultivate and strengthen a renewed relationship, and determine how we may support the future and thriving of the incredibly diverse Pacific Islander and Asian American community. 

Native Leaders Roundtable

PSU is on a journey to becoming an Indigenous affirming institution, a place with authentic partnerships with the nations/tribes in our area and a place that invites and, is supportive of, Native students who graduate at equitable rates, equipped to advance their communities and the world.

MENASA Convening

This is an asset-based intergenerational, inter-ideological, and intercultural opportunity for listening, shared learning, and recognition of points of synergy and opportunity across the rich and diverse identities of the local MENASA community -- resulting in a shared agenda for action.
