Currently is the weekly employee newsletter for Portland State University. Currently is delivered via email to all employees at their @pdx.edu email addresses on Monday mornings in the fall, winter and spring terms, and once during the summer.
Currently is produced and distributed by University Communications.

Opportunities, news and events
Length: 80-120 words
Content: Written in third person, free of "we", "our" or "us" language
Image (optional): Horizontal / 600 x 400 pixels
Link: Always include a link where the reader can get more information (sorry, we cannot include direct links to Zoom meetings)
Editable text required. Information submitted only as an attachment, image, PDF of flier will be returned to sender with a request to resubmit following the submission guidelines.
Images and Graphics that are text-heavy (more than 5 words) will not be used, for accessibility reasons.
Please note that events should be:
- Sponsored, hosted, or co-hosted by PSU
- Open to faculty and/or staff
- Of interest to PSU faculty and staff
If your item is not time sensitive, it may be moved to a week with more space.
Submissions may be edited for length, clarity, tone, style, accessibility and audience relevance. Edited items are not typically returned for review before publication.
Example of a strong submission:
The Office of Academic Innovation will host a workshop on creating accessible course materials from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, on Zoom. Faculty and staff will learn practical steps for improving document accessibility and supporting students who use assistive technology. Registration is required. Learn more and register online.
SUBMIT ACCOLADES
Each week, Currently recognizes the achievements of Portland State’s faculty and staff. Send information about publications, exhibits, grants, awards, presentations and other accomplishments through the Currently via email to currently@pdx.edu or via the form below.
Accolades – general format:
[Full Name], [department or school] faculty, [presented/gave a talk/co-published, etc.] [Title of work, presentation, project, etc. in Title Case] at/in [journal/conference/event/organization name, if applicable] in [location if applicable] on [date].
Ex., Ryan Petteway, public health faculty, published a poem titled Proc Prun / Roses, in the journal Health Affairs on Oct. 2.

DEADLINES
The deadline to submit to Currently is noon on the Tuesday before publication. Check the Currently Publication Schedule for deadlines and publication dates.
SUBMIT STUDENT RECOGNITION
In the final issue of each term, Currently features student success, showcasing achievements such as publications, scholarships, grants, presentations and more. Send student recognition items via email to currently@pdx.edu or via the form below.
Student recognition items should include the following:
- Student's full name
- Whether the student is an undergraduate or graduate and their major (example: "Jane Doe, art history undergraduate")
- If applicable, the student's job, volunteer or research position
- The full name of the award, honor scholarship or fellowship
- The date the award was given
- Any other relevant information about the award, such as length of fellowship, total scholarship amount, location of award ceremony
- Links to other relevant information such as a news story, website, book listing or journal webpage
Please submit your student recognition items using this example format as a guide: Jane Doe, civil and environmental engineering graduate student, received a $10,000 Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) Graduate Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Student recognition can be submitted throughout each term. Final deadline is the Tuesday before the final publication, however, sooner is better!
