SUBMIT A NEWS ITEM

Portland State’s faculty and staff newsletter, Currently, is sent via email each week during the academic year. Submit news items by email to currently@pdx.edu or simply tag #Currently in Syndication for your workplace-related news stories. To be included in the weekly newsletter, see the Currently schedule for due dates. Please be aware that if your item is not time sensitive, it may be moved to a week with more space. Although Currently typically publishes on Mondays, we also publish a Wednesday edition as necessary.

Newsletter items are limited to 120 words and, when possible, should include a horizontal image (600 x 400 pixels) and a link for more information. Items accepted for publication will be edited for style, clarity and length. Sorry, we cannot include fliers or direct links to Zoom meetings in the newsletter.

News stories tagged for #Currently should be relevant to PSU faculty and staff (i.e., promotion, grant, award, program or faculty feature).

LET US KNOW ABOUT AN EVENT

Tag #Currently in Syndication in your events that are open or of interest to PSU faculty and staff! You can also submit events to be included in the weekly newsletter via email: currently@pdx.edu. Sorry, we cannot post event flyers or direct Zoom links in the newsletter.

SUBMIT AN ACCOLADE

Each week, Currently recognizes the achievements of Portland State’s faculty and staff. Send information about publications, exhibits, grants, awards, presentations and other accomplishments through the Currently submission form or via email to currently@pdx.edu by the Tuesday noon before publication.

Example: Ryan Petteway, Public Health faculty, published a poem titled “proc prun / roses,” in the journal Health Affairs.

SUBMIT STUDENT RECOGNITION

At the end of each term, Currently features student success, showcasing achievements such as publications, scholarships, grants, presentations and more. Send student recognition items via email to currently@pdx.edu.

Student recognition items should include the following:

  • The student’s full name
  • Whether the student is an undergraduate or graduate student and their area of study (example: “Jane Doe, an undergraduate studying art history.”)
  • If applicable, the student’s job, volunteer or research position. For example, if a student won an award for their work as an employee with the PSU Residence Hall Association, their position with residence life would be necessary for the write-up
  • The full name of the award, honor, scholarship or fellowship
  • The date the award was given
  • Any other relevant information about the award, such as length of fellowship, total scholarship amount, location of award ceremony
  • A horizontal photo, if available
  • Links to other relevant information, such as a news story, the fellowship website, a listing for a book available for purchase, or an article’s journal web page
