Lee Shaker, Ph.D. Department Chair

Lee Shaker studies new communication technologies and politics. He has published research in many journals including Public Opinion Quarterly, Political Communication, and the Journal of Communication. Before joining PSU, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Tanner Cooke, Ph.D.

Dr. Cooke investigates and teaches about the relationship between sport and contemporary society; and mediated construction of place, exploring how various voices shape our understanding of place. This includes the role of sport in place-making, as well as broader investigations into place branding & tourism.

Lauren Frank

Lauren Frank, Ph.D., Director of Graduate Program

Dr. Lauren Frank specializes in public health communication. Her research examines health campaigns and entertainment-education. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on communication theory, research methods, health campaigns, media effects, and risk and strategic communication.

Jeffrey D. Robinson, Ph.D.

Dr. Robinson is a full professor in the Department of Communication and Affiliate Professor of Radiation Medicine at the Oregon Health and Science University. He specializes in two subfields within the discipline of Communication: ‘language and social interaction,’ and ‘health communication'

Suldovsky

Dr. Brianne Suldovsky, Associate Professor of Science Communication

Dr. Brianne Suldovsky examines public perception of topics like climate change, GMOs, forensic science, and the search for life in space. She teaches social scientific courses in public engagement with science, risk and strategic communication, and environmental controversies.
