Commencement ceremonies are events held annually in June to celebrate students graduating from Portland State. The university hosts ceremonies for each individual school or college, and some student and campus organizations hold their own separate ceremonies.
Apply for a degree or certificate
To participate in commencement ceremonies, you must apply for a degree or certificate online and sign up for commencement on the Graduation Application.
To participate in the June 2026 commencement ceremonies:
- Undergraduate students must apply for a degree or certificate.
- Graduate students must apply for a degree or certificate.
- Doctoral candidates may participate in the June commencement ceremony only if they:
- graduated in the immediately preceding summer, fall, or winter terms, or
- have applied for spring graduation, meet all spring term deadlines, complete all degree requirements, and are certified for graduation by the Graduate School before the ceremony.

The term you expect to graduate from PSU determines which commencement ceremonies you’re eligible to participate in.
