Latin Honors at PSU Commencement

Undergraduate students who qualify for Latin honors and participate in commencement ceremonies will:

  • Have their honors listed in the online commencement program
  • Receive a Latin honors cord at Grad Fair to wear during their commencement ceremony

Latin Honors Levels

  • Summa cum laude — Gold cord
  • Magna cum laude — Silver cord
  • Cum laude — Green cord

Important:

Eligibility for Latin honors recognition at commencement is based on a student’s winter quarter GPA, as this is the most recent official GPA available prior to ceremonies. There are no exceptions.

Final GPA calculations for diplomas and transcripts are based on grades posted after spring quarter.

Students can verify Latin honors eligibility by running a DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) report:

Pop Up Menu to Select Latin Honors Eligibility in DARS
  1. Log onto my.pdx.edu
  2. Select Academics in the left column
  3. Under Academic Planning, choose Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS)
  4. Under Audit Level, select PSU – Undergraduate or Post-bac
  5. Under Degree Program, select HONORS – LATIN – PSU-HON
  6. Under Catalog Year, choose your graduation quarter and year (e.g., Spring 2026)
