Information for Faculty

Welcome, PSU faculty, to commencement 2026!  This year all schools and colleges will hold commencement ceremonies on campus in Viking Pavilion. 

Ceremonies

All times are Pacific Daylight Time.

Participation

All faculty who want to participate in their school or college’s commencement ceremony are invited to attend and lead graduates in procession. Regalia is required to participate. When you arrive at Viking Pavilion, enter on the northwest side near the box office window. You’ll be matched with your graduates. Please contact the dean’s office in your school or college to sign up.

Tickets

No tickets are required for faculty to attend any PSU commencement ceremony in 2026. Please bring your PSU ID for admittance.

Faculty Regalia

Faculty regalia is now available for order for the 2025 commencement ceremonies. 

Please place your order online with our cap and gown vendor, Royal-T/Herff Jones. Make sure to search for Portland State University. You will select your advanced degree alma mater at checkout.

AAUP-represented faculty are eligible for a rental and purchasing reimbursement through the union. Get reimbursement info.

Hooding

All doctoral students will be hooded on stage at their commencement ceremony.  If you are a dissertation chair and have a doctoral student participating in a commencement ceremony, you will receive an email by early June with details on how to participate.

Some schools and colleges may opt to hood their master's students at commencement, depending on the number of graduates and time allowed in the program. Please contact your dean’s office for more information.
