The Applied Linguistics faculty invites you to an information session about a major, minor, Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) certificate, or master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

Applied Linguistics is the study of language to address real world problems. As a broad field that touches many aspects of human interaction, applied linguistics includes subjects such as how language works in the brain, interactions between language and culture, and teaching English as a second language (TESL). The field has many close ties to social sciences, foreign language studies, and English language arts.

My attraction to the TESL Certificate and the Applied Linguistics program has a lot to do with how engaging the faculty are and how they really manage to make you feel like you're part of a community - and I didn't feel that from a lot of other departments.
