Terms of Compensation for PSU Instructor Development Programs

The OAI instructional development compensated groups are paid work assignments that report to the Office of Academic Innovation (OAI). These projects will require meeting certain criteria, objectives, and/or milestone goals as part of participation in the overall assignment agreement and being contingent on University rules or policies and other labor laws.

All work assignments at Portland State University are contingent on your current primary appointment classification and available workload/FTE for all combined jobs at PSU in an Academic/Fiscal Year and subject to your current union collective bargaining agreement or other applicable University employment policies. Other eligibility criteria may apply, and PSU employment is subject to the terms of all applicable rules and policies.

How faculty workload compatibility is determined: To participate in an OAI instructional development compensated group, applicants' workload will be reviewed for compatibility with their current work assignments.  The OAI administrator will then determine if the applicants have enough FTE remaining in the academic year/fiscal year to participate in the OAI instructional development compensated group. Once compatibility has been determined, the Associate Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment will contact faculty directly, letting them know the status of their application.  Please contact Raiza Dottin (dottin@pdx.edu) if you have any questions.

Please note: Article 12, Section 6 of the PSUFA collective bargaining agreement states that an Adjunct faculty may not exceed a total of .49 FTE per year; “The total amount of compensation for committee service or special projects under this Article 12, Section 6, combined with the faculty member’s instructional appointment and any other compensation under this Agreement, may not exceed a total FTE of .49 per year.”
