Glasper West Memorial Leadership Award

This award, bestowed every Spring on an upper-level Community Development student, honors the special contributions of Glasper West to the Community Development program and larger community. A bright light in every classroom and corridor, Glasper was a creative and dedicated student who was in the process of completing his undergraduate degree when cancer ended his life in 2019. Whether leading the Community Development Student Group or chatting during a break from class, Glasper brought people together, accepting the differences among them as a delight rather than a barrier. He was passionate about calling out injustice but also able to find the silver living in the most difficult situation. Glasper brought out the best in people with his warmth, candor, and love for the African American community. We honor his legacy by celebrating his kindred spirits.
