Through campus projects, community involvement, and advocacy, Services for Students with Children works to increase available resources and opportunities that improve the quality of life for students with children. 


Interested in joining the team?  Services for Students with Children has a variety of employment opportunities for students.  Most hiring takes place in  summer and fall, however opportunities do arise throughout the year.  Any current openings are posted on Handshake and students with children are encouraged to apply! Position Descriptions

Receptionist/Program Assistant 

  • Greet and welcome students, families, staff and faculty who visit the center
  • Inform and promote RCSC programs and events
  • Assist in program development and strategic planning of programs and events.
  • Help capture program statistics and assist in reporting
  • Give orientations to new students, welcoming them into the RCSC space
  • Refer students, families and community partners to resources on and off campus
  • Answer and return telephone calls
  • Table events and assist with staffing events as needed
  • Maintain the RCSC spaces keeping them clean and organized
  • Monitor children at family friendly events, including some weekends and evenings

 

Jim Sells Childcare Subsidy Program Specialist
Do you love working with numbers and explaining how things work to people? This position assists our Accounting Specialist in administering the Jim Sells program.

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Process scholarship applications and invoices
  • Use Excel spreadsheets to capture data regarding the scholarship applicants
  • Explain the scholarship to and answer questions for student parents who are receiving the scholarship in person, on the phone, and via email
  • Greet and welcome students, families, staff and faculty who visit the center
  • Help capture program statistics and assist in writing reports
  • Table events and assist with staffing events as needed

 

Student Support Specialist, Second Year Graduate Student Employment Opportunity
Provide support and intervention for students with children who are in crisis or in need.


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide crisis intervention and resource and referral for student parents in distress.
  • Work with students in our child care subsidy program who are not meeting requirements to develop and implement an intervention plan to help them succeed and meet requirements. 
  • Learn about campus and community resources and develop tools to help student families find the resources they need. 
  • Assist with office duties such as greeting students, helping plan, prepare for and run events, processing paperwork.


Graphic Designer

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Designing all marketing materials, including brochures, handbills, flyers, posters, advertisements, digital documents and email blasts, websites, Facebook, e-newsletters for the Resource Center for Students with Children, Jim Sells Subsidy and Little Viking Childcare
  • Designing and updating bulletin board and display case layouts
  • Distributing marketing materials to bulletin boards and information tables, campus publications and the online PSU announcement board and event calendar, as well as to departments for inclusion in newsletters and list-serve dissemination


Marketing Assistant

  • Assist in communicating announcements, upcoming events and general programs and services to the campus public utilizing social media channels, email list-serves and printed marketing materials. 
  • Assist in maintaining the RCSC Facebook page/Twitter Feed and Google groups.
  • Distribute marketing materials to bulletin boards and display cases, campus publications and the online PSU announcement board and event calendar, as well as to departments for inclusion in newsletters and list-serve dissemination.
  • Oversee the coordination and implementation of several events per term, including event planning and preparation as well as attendance and oversight of events. 
  • Act as representative of the RCSC at engagements in order to inform students and staff/faculty of RCSC services; including tabling and presentation sessions.

Little Vikings/Baby Vikings Teacher
Job Responsibilities:  

  • Acting as a substitute director.
  • Assist in planning and implementing appropriate activities.
  • Assisting children in hygiene, including diapering and toilet use.
  • Keeping area clean and maintained according to State of Oregon Office of Childcare Standards.
  • Supervise children at all times while providing a positive and emotionally supportive environment.
  • Maintain positive relationships with children, guardians and childcare staff.
  • Supervise the activities of an aide assigned to that group.
  • Be responsible for a small group of children: infant, toddler or school age.
  • Complete 15 clock hours of childcare related training each year.
  • Occasional front desk duties.
  • Be available for special events that are sponsored by the RCSC, including Family Friendly commencement, Kid’s night out and Parent Social Hour.
  • Attend all Staff Meetings.
  • Complete paperwork, trainings and all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Little Vikings/Baby Vikings Teacher Aide
Job Responsibilities:  

  • Assist a childcare Teacher in supervising a group of children.
  • Keeping area clean and maintained according to the State of Oregon Office of Childcare standards.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with children, guardians and childcare staff.
  • Occasional front desk duties.
  • Enjoy working as a team member, be reliable, self-motivated and an independent worker.
  • Complete 15 clock hours of childcare related training per year.
  • Be available for special events that are sponsored by the RCSC, including family friendly commencement, Kid’s night out and Parent Social Hour.
  • Attend all staff meetings.
  • Complete paperwork, trainings and all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
