Student Resources Online

Choosing and evaluating online resources

The links below are just a select set that you should find helpful in learning Russian and being in the Flagship Program. Some resources will be most helpful for advanced students, others can help even from the start. Consult with your instructors and other students for other resources.

When evaluating sites and tools, consider whether they are just helping you get an answer or whether they are actually helping you to learn the language. Google Translate, for example, is great at turning a word, phrase or sentence from one language to another in a flash. HOWEVER, it doesn't help you actually learn how to express your thoughts in Russian.

You want to use resources that help you

  • start to learn the words to express your thoughts
  • understand how the words are fitting together to express those thoughts
