What do you plan to do with your fluency in Russian?
My fluency in Russian directly correlates to my degree and desired career as a designer. Being able to speak both English and Russian will allow me to create visual communication between both cultures, as well as interact with people from various backgrounds.

What attracted you to Flagship?
I was immediately attracted to the challenging curriculum and incredible opportunities this program provides. Not only is it a rigorous language-learning experience, but it is also intellectually challenging and provides numerous opportunities for students to think on a high academic level. One of the biggest factors for my decision to join the program was knowing how involved the faculty is with every student. With all that in mind, the opportunity to study abroad in St. Petersburg sealed the deal for me. And who doesn’t want to study abroad in Russia?

What’s the best aspect of being in Flagship?
Flagship is like a small family – I love how involved the program is with each student. Each instructor goes above and beyond to help the participants succeed. Every course is designed to improve language skills, challenge thinking processes, and allow students to really hone their speaking skills. It’s a very challenging and rewarding program to be a part of.

Why is fluency in Russian important to you?
As a native speaker of Russian, I am always looking for areas of improvement and growth – and believe me, there are many. Preserving and expanding my language skills is a top priority for me not only to establish a deeper connection with my culture and heritage but also to communicate with the vast Russian communities all over the world.
