PSU Russian Flagship Alumni

NOW

I work for the Corps of Engineers as a Program Analyst. I would say that the Flagship program has helped me maintain an interest in languages, whether that’s for international work opportunities or programming languages. There’s also a certain level of performance that’s expected with Flagship, which has helped me quickly adjust to higher workloads, when necessary.

THEN

What do you plan to do with your fluency in Russian?

I plan on working internationally in Russia, or other countries where Russian is spoken, and doing social work for my local Russian-speaking community.

What attracted you to RFP?
RFP’s ability to create proficient users of the Russian language, as well as give students the opportunity and resources to use their knowledge of the Russian language in a meaningful way, convinced me that this was the program I needed to pursue at PSU.

What’s the best aspect of being in RFP?
The support the professors provide and the opportunities to use and interact in Russian, I think, are the best parts of the program.

Why is fluency in Russian important to you?
I believe that Russian is one of those languages that require knowledge of every little nuance to capture the true meaning of a piece of literary work. No language, I think, can compare.
