PSU Russian Flagship Alumni

Anticipated Degree(s): BA, Russian, 2015

What do you plan to do with your fluency in Russian?
I am currently undecided. Working for the federal government is appealing, but I am also interested in furthering my education at a university overseas.

What attracted you to the PSU Russian Flagship?
I liked the idea of learning a language in an accelerated way. Flagship seemed to have an aura of seriousness about learning a language. After being enrolled in previous language classes, that idea was very appealing.

What’s the best aspect of being in the PSU Russian Flagship?
The faculty and students. The faculty seems to love what they do and they go out of the way to help us improve our Russian. This kind of support system doesn’t seem to exist outside of Flagship. The students in Flagship really change the experience as well. The students in Flagship really want to learn Russian and become proficient in the language. Other language classes I’ve experienced have students that lack the enthusiasm to learn another language.

Why is fluency in Russian important to you?
Learning a second language is great career-wise. I believe it is good for everyone to have proficiency in a second language because it helps them gain a complete worldview.
