Introducing the Inaugural Cohort of the InnovAIte Research Academy

Research and Graduate Studies is thrilled to announce the inaugural cohort of the InnovAIte Research Academy, set to commence in June 2024. This innovative program is designed to empower faculty and staff, regardless of their previous experience with generative AI, to harness its potential in research and research administration. No computer science, technology, or programming background is required – our focus is on the practical application of generative AI, accessible to all. 

Our mission is to elevate research excellence and streamline administrative processes at PSU. The Academy aims to revolutionize the grantseeking process and research administration by providing AI tools that automate routine and time-consuming tasks. This approach will drive efficiency, allowing faculty and staff to dedicate more time to the core of their work – conducting and supporting impactful research.

What Does the Summer Cohort Entail?

• Foundational Learning: Over the summer, you'll complete two engaging online courses offered by Coursera. These courses will equip beginners with a solid understanding of generative AI and prompt engineering. 
• Active Engagement: Participate in our biweekly InnovAIte Bytes & Insights Sessions throughout the summer. These lunchtime discussions provide a platform for sharing experiences, discussing AI applications, and exploring ethical considerations in AI use. 
• Exclusive Access: As part of the inaugural cohort, you'll have the opportunity to shape the direction of the InnovAIte Research Academy and be the first to access key resources and programming, including the PromptCrafters@PSU program.

Application Materials

Please complete the online application form here to apply for the InnovAIte Research Academy. Upload to the application form a PDF file containing the following: 

• A brief statement (300-500 words) describing your interest in the program and how you envision AI transforming your work in research or research administration. 
• A short description (150-200 words) of a project or initiative where you believe generative AI could be applied to improve efficiency or outcomes. 

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Early submission is encouraged due to limited spots in the inaugural cohort.
