Our lab is comprised of 3 main rooms:

Main research laboratory

Our laboratory is part of the Center for Life in Extreme Environments (CLEE) at PSU.  We our lab is a typical research lab outfitted to perform whole organismal physiology, cell physiology, fluorescence microscopy, microinjection of fish embryos, and molecular biology.

Main research laboratory

Aquatic vertebrate breeding facility

We house and breed a relatively large laboratory stock of Austrofundulus limnaeus to support our research efforts.  This facility is custom designed to house A. limnaeus and to support collection of embryos for research projects.  We routinely collect several thousand embryos from this facility every week.

We are also users and participants in the CLEE fish facility to support cold-water fish research at PSU.  This facility was designed to house both fresh and salt-water species.

Cell culture facility

This facility was equipped by a generous donation of equipment by Sheldon Manufacturing, a local company that produces scientific equipment and incubators.  We have the capability to grow cells under hypoxia, anoxia, and at any desired temperature.
