The Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) is committed to student success by serving as the principal resource for students, faculty, and staff regarding graduate certificate and degree requirements, degree status, petition procedures, thesis and dissertation preparation, final oral examinations, eligibility of graduate assistants, and academic standing.  OGS oversees 18 doctoral programs, over 70 master's programs, and over 30 graduate certificate programs, and we process the graduation paperwork for the over 1,600 graduate degrees and certificates that are awarded annually.

Who We Are

OGS supports graduate programs in the development of new curricular proposals and serves as an advocate for graduate education on campus and in the community.  OGS partners with academic programs and other offices on campus to recruit a diverse graduate student population and to meet the needs of students in the pursuit of academic and career goals.  OGS oversees the distribution of tuition remissions for Graduate Teaching Assistantships, as well as a number of graduate scholarship and awards programs.

OGS is guided by the Dean of Graduate Studies, who works closely with the Academic Deans on issues related to graduate education. The Dean of Graduate Studies also represents PSU with community groups and national and regional graduate school organizations.
